With the rapid development of sensor technology, embedded computing technology and wireless communication technology, varieties of micro-sensor with the capability of calculation and communication have been developed. A great concern has been caused by the wireless sensor networks (WSN) which is consisted by many micro-sensors. Combined data collection and transmission with fusion analysis together, wireless sensor networks inaugurate a new domain in the information technology's world on account of its wide range of applications and development prospects. In the research domains of wireless sensor networks, the design of routing protocol is becoming the core of the network-layer protocols. This article focuses on the research of the routing protocol after starting with the analysis of the architecture of wireless sensor network. After introducing the WSN routing protocols refer to the classification, AODV routing protocol has been made a detailed presentation and analysis, from which a number of potential problems have been found: AODV routing protocol routed in a flood method, which will consume too much energy of the networks; Only the number of the path hop is concerned in the path choice; Only 1-hop path is established so that most of the path information generated by route discovery packets were wasted. To solve the problems exposed, an improved AODV routing protocol is proposed in this article. In order to reduce the consumption, the number of nodes who involved in broadcast is decreased through the judgment of the path depth during the broadcast; choose a shorter path based on RSSI to reduce the energy consumption in data sending; a stand-by routing mechanism is introduced to lower the consumption caused by the routing maintenance.Routing protocol improved, the whole protocol stack code is optimized, by which the code is cut and the efficiency is enhance as a result. Many functions of application layer such as reverse data query, re-locate as well as the search of the damaged nodes are added in. Finally, the transplant ofμC/OS-II operating system is preliminary explored.
