In recent years, sensor technology has attracted increasing attentions. Atpresent, one of the research directions about sensor networks is to make the networkwide-band and speed it up. The current scale of wireless sensor networks becomeslarger and the ability of the nodes strengthens greatly, even transmitting mass data, which is different from traditional wireless sensor networks significantly. Becausethe transmitting ability of the traditional sensor network routing protocols isrestricted, it is hard for the traditional sensor networks to work well with currentsituation. As a result, one of the hot focus and difficulties of the research is how tomake the powerful Ad Hoc network protocols work better in the wireless sensornetworks. However, Ad Hoc protocols exist a great question---energy consumptionof each node is not balanced, which can result in fast consuming energy, even somenodes to die ahead of time. To avoid the situation above, the research on making anideal energy saving algorithm is the focus of current research.A new energy algorithm is put forward in this thesis just to solve the energyproblem of Ad Hoc network protocols which are applied in wireless sensor networks. The algorithm is added to the traditional Ad Hoc network protocols, and proved thefeasibility through both simulation test and actual measurement. This thesis firstly introduces the traditional Ad Hoc network protocols andanalyzes their advantages and disadvantages; then makes the NS2stimulationanalysis on three kinds of routing protocols which are used for most; at last choosesAODV protocol as the best choice for wireless sensor networks through comparison. There are some questions about AODV protocol---the path is not changed and theconsumption of energy of some nodes is fast. Aiming at this problem, this thesisintroduces several common energy algorithms. At the same time, this thesis makesresearch on the swarm intelligence algorithms and presents a simulation model ofbee swarm in the light of intelligence algorithms. The central idea of the model isthat in the data transmission process, the high energy-consumption routes which areused before should be avoided as much as possible. A new energy-balancedalgorithm is added to the model to improve the AODV protocol. Based on ratio ofthe residual energy of one node and the average residual energy of its neighbor nodeas well as the number of workable neighbor nodes, the new energy balancedalgorithm chooses the route. At the same time, according to the residual energy, aprobability of floating coefficient—could be got, which can maximally avoid thesituation of individual node’s death ahead of time because of frequent use, thenprotect the energy of nodes and prolong the lifetime of the network. Meanwhile, in a long time run it can increase the grouping deliver ratio and the throughput of thewhole network. Based on the energy balanced algorithm, IBAODV (Improvedenergy Balanced AODV), an improved routing protocol could be achieved fromAODV protocol. In this thesis, the NS2simulation software is used to analyze theimproved protocol. It turns out that a series of advantages of the improved protocolcould be found, such as number of survival node increases, network survival timeprolongs and the throughput increases. Then the improved protocol is to be appliedin the embedded ARM platform; at last, the improved protocol will be applied inreality and proved the feasibility of the improved protocol in actual measurementenvironment.
