Sorter is an effective device which can be used in detection and classification of grainy s. Many benefits can be obtained through its application, such as the improvement of s' quality, the increasing of the added-value as well as good economic and social benefit. Therefore, the study on the sorter is of great importance and practical significance.The sorter is devided into the control system and detection system.The design in this paper focuses on the control system,including the chief control system and touch screen system.The chief control system is responsible for the management and control of the subsystems as well as the peripheral functions. The touch screen is employed for man-computer interaction.PIC16F877 singlechip is employed as the controller, and a piece of CPLD ispLSI1032 is used to expand logical circuits; nonvolatile SRAM DS1230 is utilized to design the exterior expansion storage circuit; by DS1620 digital temperature sensor, the working environment temperature of the system can be measured and monitored; the circuits which acquire the switching and status signals are designed as well. WEINVIEW touch screen is employed as the man-computer interaction,by which 71 screens are designed,including CCD dynamic real-time waveform display, the operating parameters reconstructed under different modes, the time-driven of air guns and so on. The communication circuits between PIC16F877 and the touch screen as well as all subsystems is designed, at the same time, the three-wire synchronous serial communications between PIC16F877 and each subsystem based on user-defined protocol,and the RS-232 asynchronous serial communication between PIC16F877 MCU and the touch screen based on Modbus protocol are established.Software of the control system is debugged by assemble language based on the environments of PICMATE2.0. The ispLSI1032 is designed, simulated and downloaded on the platform of ispLEVER7.0. EasyBuilder500 for Windows is employed to design the touch screen program. After repeatedly experiments and debugging, all the designs have been completed and the connection with other parts has been established as well.
