The paper researches on CAN-bus technology, and design real-time status monitoring system of data acquisition system based on CAN-bus. This system can inspect on several of signals, and transfer the states of running devices through CAN-bus network, which the controlling system can use to control devices automatically.This paper analyzes CAN 2.0B protocol, and then designs software and hardware realization of CAN bus nodes. In terms of hardware realization, double-route CAN-bus which can be each other's standby is designed, aiming at improving the dependability of the communication system. When one CAN-bus route is disabled, the other route can work well. On the software side, the paper proposes and designs one set of communication protocols for application layer according to the system requirements for real working environment, because CAN 2.0B protocol doesn't define anything for communication layer. Beside, the optimization of CAN-bus bit-timing parameter is discussed particularly.In order to test the performance of the monitor system designed, a communication network with two CAN-bus nodes is built. The test results prove that the monitor system can inspect key signals efficiently, communicate with other CAN network nodes steadily at the baud rate of 1Mbps, and accomplish all instructions the communication protocols defined.
