Fine Blanking Die is a kind of complicated and efficient production tooling. It has been wildly applied in aero-industry, automobile and ship manufactory. Because the Fine Blanking Die is so complicated and accurate that the work on the design requires high staff. Along with the popularization of computer, CAD has been wildly used. But there are no special CAD systems for Fine Blanking Die till now in our nation, which make the Fine Blanking Die design and parts design remain at a relatively low level. On the other hand, for the same reason, the designers have to do many repetitive works, and there are always mistakes when conduct feasibility analysis to the products. Under this condition, in this paper, the author carried out the works as following:First, the author has made a deep study on the technology and equipment of Fine Blanking Die. Based on the knowledge, the author participated in the design of the whole structure. The definition of the components to the structure was the author's works as well.After that, the author studied the methods of how to develop new functions to SolidWorks based on COM technology. With the help of the association design method and size-driving method the software provided, the author set up the standard parts library to Fine Blanking Die.With the deep research on layout technology and algorithm in common use, the author brought up the solutions to the layout optimization of the Fine Blanking Die under the environment of SolidWorks.
