With the rapid development of computer network technology and widely application,the scale and complexity of the campus network increase gradually and present the higher isomerism.Meanwhile,it demands more flexibility and extensibility.How to ensure the stable and effective operation of the network and adapt the trend of rapid development of modern network is the key issue for current network management.In view of the problems of low efficiency,lacking of flexibility and expandability for the centralized system of network management based on C/S mode,we propose a novel framework for distributed network management system by integrating technologies of mobile Agent,WEB and SNMP.Finally, we implement a prototype system in the college network environment.Our main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) We propose an integrated strategy in server through employing Aglet and Web application using the RMI technology,which is based on the analysis of mobile agent development platform IBM Aglet and Web development framework Spring.This strategy is easy to build an effective,flexible and expandable distributed system and provides a feasible and simple operation interface for network management system.(2) We propose and actualize a novel framework for distributed network management system by integrating the technologies of mobile agent,SNMP and Web.The framework is able to take advantage of the resources of each network node and protect the current investment by using the mature SNMP technology.Furthermore,the framework presents better flexibility,expandability and low degree of coupling between modules.(3) We propose an approach for real-time monitoring of the performance of network based on the AJAX technology.Experimental results show that our approach can reduce data flux when the browser is visiting management stations and lighten their computing load.(4) We propose an approach for polling of network facilities and receiving the SNMP Trap by using concurrency techniques.Experimental results show that this approach occupies less resource and can improve SNMP Trap's receiving capacity.(5) We propose the framework for network management system based on the mobile agent,which can reduce the data traffic and speed the response of network management enormously.Experiment on testing the data traffic,when the number of the network facility interface is 120,the data traffic produced by mobile agent mode is just 1/4 of the C/S mode. Experiment on testing response time,when the number of facility is 12,the response time of mobile agent mode is just 41%of the C/S mode.(6) The new system presents good ability of expandability and is able to adapt to the development and change of network,especially for the large-scale and complex heterogeneous network.
