Research Of Mobile Agent-Based Network Management System And Design Of MA/SNMP Gateway

The architecture of network management must have a high degree of flexibility and scalability. At present, most of the network management systems are based on a manager/agent model. This model has certain limitations. As a new distributed network technology, mobile agent (MA) has provided a new way to manage networks, and its autonomy, platform-independence and intelligence can remarkably increase flexibility and scalability.Considering the widespread use of SNMP, a combination of mobile agent and SNMP can not only fully use the existing resources, but also take advantage of mobile agent. Mobile agent's implementation needs the execution environment to support it. Equipments which allow the third-party software loading can be easily managed, but routers, switches and other equipments need a special way to be managed. Therefore, this is the key problem of this dissertation.The dissertation first reviews the development of network management technology, and introduces some new technology. Compared with traditional technology, it analyses the advantages of mobile agent-based network management. MA/SNMP Gateway based network management system architecture is designed, using mobile agent management framework. Management functions will be distributed in the network being managed. Through MA/SNMP Gateway manager can achieve interoperability with the local SNMP Agent. It is a good integration of mobile agent and SNMP. Finally, MA/SNMP Gateway-based configuration management model is analyzed.
