With the rapid development of network and multimedia technology and their application in education area, E-learning has become more and more popular. Learning platform on network is a natural result of E-learning development. How to choose a suitable learning platform to support the day-to-day teaching activities, and how to improve teaching efficiency and cultivate the students'self-learning ability and creativity have become a key issue for schools, teachers, and educational researchers. The commercial platform on the market are expensive, so many schools can not afford the cost of the software itself and the cost of upgrading and services. In light of this situation, this paper introduces the concept of open source learning platform. According to actual practice in normal teaching activity of Xuzhou Institute of Architectural Technology, this project will try to research and apply the Moodle course management platform to the network education.This project has made research and analysis on Moodle system, and integrates with its function modulars to implement the customization of Moodle for education plan and secondary development. Firstly, the features and adopted technology about Moodle are introduced, then functions and modular architecture are analyzed. Secondary development methods are also discussed. Next, according to the undergraduate education plan, detailed requirement analysis is planed carefully, and integrated system of website including database and function modular is designed. Meanwhile course selecting model that student can select course according to the ability and the topological relations of courses is put forward and implemented. Finally, the education plan of Research Institute for Higher Education, Xuzhou Institute of Architectural Technology is integrated to the Moodle course management system with a external modular form.
