As the improving of the grade of voltage and current in the power transmission lines, the traditional method that based on the electromagnetism principle already could not satisfy the need of practice. Therefore, a new method of optical fiber current sensor that based on current heat effect is presented in this paper. The performance of system is researched. The high current in high voltage side is transformed low current in low voltage side by Rogowski coil. The low current outputted from the coil is loaded on the electric heating component. Then the current information is got indirectly by measuring the temperature signal. Through measuring the fluorescence lifetime which has single-functional connection with temperature, the information of temperature is got. Heat stability of film resistance is analyzed. Three-dimensional model of thin film resistance is built and thermal analysis is performed according to their structure and test conditions by utilizing ANSYS, which provides references to the design of thin film resistance. Then the responsible speed of the system is advanced. The Rogowski coil is taken by this system as the current sensor in the high voltage part. The dimension of coil is designed by MATLAB simulation, and the accuracy and range of the secondary current is increased. In the low voltage part, after being filtrated, photodiode converted and magnified, the light information could be imported into the data-collection card in the computer, which convert the analog signals into digital signals and make it to be analyzed by the software.Experiments of current measurement are given. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that this scheme is available if appropriate technique are used.
