The Hardware Design Of ATSC-LCDTV For USA Market

The ATSC(Advanced Television Systems Committee) passed the digital televise national standards on September 15,1995. FCC(Federal Communications Commission) requires all the TV sold in USA maket should have the ATSC receiving function from 2007, and it will stop the NTSC broadcasts step by step. So the analog NTSC TV will gradually withdraw from the USA market. All TV enterprises must design the ATSC TV for USA market, because USA market is the most important one for Chinese TV enterprises.As wireless electronic devices increase rapidly, the electromagnetic environment is more worse than before. Although the electronic products are required to pass the EMC test, the analog NTSC TV was more difficult to keep its high SNR (signal-to-noise ratio), so the digital ATSC broadcast is the best solution now, it will provide the clear TV screen to users without any noise.ATSC is the USA standard of wireless TV broadcast by law. Designing ATSC TV can bring big profits to the enterprises. For us, designing the NO. 1 ATSC product will get good experiences for other projects later. As the project director, I finished all the hardware work with the assistant of my colleague. Here I will show all designing steps including the general theory, the basic solution, schematic design, pcb layout, field test, and the performance test,etc.
