Design Of IPTV STB Based On Embedded Linux

With the improvement of people's living condition and the development of Internet technology, IPTV appeared in people's lives. IPTV is a new concept which intergrates the network,multimedia and communication technologies. And it can provide many interactive services including digital TV. As IPTV's system terminal, IPTV STB has become a hotly-discussed topic in IT filed. The thesis introduces the designing process of IPTV STB based on embedded Linux。The thesis introduces the related theories of IPTV and the key techniques used by the IPTV STB,on the foundation of which it also discusses how IPTV STB is realized from the aspects of hardware and software. In the part of hardware, the thesis studies three design options for IPTV STB and the designing platform STB810 used by this project,and then introduces the hardware framework. Besides, the thesis also elaborates the inner structure of PNX8550, the Ethernet interface and the memory interface. In the part of software, the thesis studies Linux operating system and its characteristics,and then introduces the developing environment of IPTV STB. The thesis elaborates the software architecture based on layered software model, and also discusses the design of Linux device drivers and Linux APIs. What's more, it also discusses the designing options of application software. Then it analyzes the application software design of main modules of the IPTV STB in detail. The thesis also studies the JFFS2 file system and the boot step of Linux. After being debugging and testing, the IPTV STB is applicable.
