An FPGA–based sensor data acquisition and transmission system is designed inthis paper combined whith current technology developments of airborne sensor dataacquisition and transmission both at home and abroad. Paper first researches on the thetheory of sensor data acquisition and transmission technology deeply, emphasizes on theLZW data compression algorithms which applied to this system through analyzing andcomparing several commonly used data compression algorithms, introduces theinformation standard and word format of ARINC429 aviation data bus and researcheson the related theories of communication error control. A design of sensor dataacquisition and transmission system based on FPGA is proposed based on the workabove. Taking Virtex-II series FPGA of Xilinx as the core, the high-speed acquisitionand compression of airborne sensor data are realized respectively by the means ofmodular design. ARINC429 and RS-422 conmmunication interface are also realizedwith error control technology to make system intelligent correction. Finally, thehardware and software of each module are tested in laboratoryenvironment.
