At present optical fiber communications, satellite communications, wireless communications are widely paid attention to and have become the three pillars of modern communications. The outstanding advantages of optical communications make itself already become the main subject of operation bearing and more and more communication departments begin using optical fiber communication systems, among which the most prominent advantage is the characteristic of superior bandwidth and low dissipative transmit. Currently, both domestic and abroad are endeavoring in building a high-density, high capacity, high-speed optical fiber network. Apart from the increase the optical fiber communications and infrastructure construction, to ensure the safety of the security and workability of optical network, which the backing carrier of fiber optical communications, looks particularly important. Therefore, in order to support the effective operation of the huge optical fiber network and the need of bearing the integrated operation, a modernized means of optical fiber network monitor and management is needed.First of all, the software architecture of Fiber Router Automatic Switch Monitor System (FRAS) and its network topology structure and software deployment strategy are proposed on the base of the FRAS requirements in this thesis. And then, the architecture and functions of the center monitor software as well as the data gathering software are discussed . The center monitor software contains alarm monitor, remote control, statistic & analyses etc. While the data gathering software is responsible for gathering data and parsing event, which is adopt a distributed gathering approach. In the end, several key issues of the system are studied, including data communicate, event parse, malfunction analyses, real-time display in the B/S structure and so on. And the methods or algorithms are respectively proposed to solve the key issues.The frame of B/S adopted in the system makes the system more flexible and more reliable, which solves some disadvantage of C/S architecture, for example, it is hard to update and deploy software and to train administrators. So the system will be work more effectively and swiftly.
