Multi-beam bathymetry system has the features of full coverage, high precision, high density and high efficiency. It has been extensively applied in the fields of the large area sweeping measurement, dredging rivers, reservoirs measurement, marine engineering. This thesis has studied multi-beam data processing and Digital Elevation Model, then combined the MapObjects module with other mapping technology to develop a seafloor mapping software. The main research of this thesis includes: process the multi-beam data to reduce the influence of errors on results; establish Digital Elevation Models for processed data, present an improved Irregular Triangular Network point by point insertion algorithm and the process of implementation in detail; study the Contour tracking algorithms of regular Grid and Irregular Triangular Network, Contour smooth with tension spline function and Contour marking algorithm; implement visualization of Digital Elevation Model and draw all kinds of scientific-realistic seafloor terrain map using the relevant knowledge of computer graphics. This thesis has designed an ActiveX controls MoContour which can generate Contour based on MapObjects for Contour map in production, and it packages and expands the MapObjects to maintain the same interface and function, and achieves rapid automatically generation of Contour. OpenGL is used to achieve the various three-dimensional map. The development language in the thesis is VC ++ 6.0 considering that OpenGL usually combined with VC++ 6.0 whereas MapObjects can be used in various object-oriented programming environment. The software of seafloor terrain mapping can accomplish processing bathymetric data and drawing seafloor terrain map well through demonstration of the experimental data.
