With the rapid development of multi-beam survey technology, new challenges have been brought on hardware, software and other related technology of underwater topographic survey. In particular, higher requirements have been set on display and control software for real-time measurement. The software can not only display device status information in real-time, but also display measurement information comprehensively and from various perspectives. Based on the needs on display and control of the wide coverage multi-beam bathymetric system in developing, a fully functional integrated display and control software has been developed.Firstly, this dissertation studies multi-beam bathymetric system composition, theory, related signal processing algorithms, data calculation process and calibration, etc, and researches software system of the multi-beam bathymetric system especially. Although the software system contains both real-time part and post processing part, the real-time part is researched in this dissertation mainly. Then the current developed status of multi-beam bathymetric system on real-time software system abroad has been studied, and according to our own needs, a software design has been established. The related technologies involved in the software developed process are as follows:Visual Studio developed environment, OpenGL technology, data grid and interpolation technology, database development technology, development of dynamic-link library, serial port communication in real- time data acquisition, network interface communication and synchronization of multi-beam various collecting information and related technology. Because the software development is based on VC++ 6.0 platform, mastery of Visual studio developed environment is necessary for software design; a three-dimensional display window is designed to display the three-dimensional topography by OpenGL technology; as in pseudo-color picture show, original data grid and interpolation is needed, using high-performance grid and interpolation algorithm is an important guarantee for the real-time software system;database technology is involved by multi-beam data acquisition storage in software real-time mode and data acquisition in software playback mode mainly; because solution of multi-beam depth data involves many parameters, and the process is complicated, to develop a dynamic link library which can encapsulate the process is very necessary; data of the real-time display and control software system includes the GPS, the attitude, the multi-beam data and the original signal, and collecting data will involve the serial port and network interface communication;ping rate of each measurement device in real-time measurement may not be consistent, and are not synchronized, but independent of each other, so in order to get a ping effective multi-beam survey data, GPS information, the attitude information and multi-beam data must be made synchronous.Main functions of the real-time integrated display and control software system include data storage, system configuration information settings, exception handing, display of real-time monitoring information, navigation control interface, beam profile display, real-time three-dimensional topographic display, pseudo-color picture and contour lines' display, original acquisition signal display and data playback, etc.The validity of the software system is verified by the actual experiment and data acquisition playback.
