With the development of EPON network, the number and type of network equipments is gradually increasing and network element management systems become more and more complex. It is important to provide an effective network management system for EPON to assure better service .Therefore for the developer of network management with modest resources, provision of a network simulation environment can give a good help, enabling them to develop and test the network management independent of EPON equipments.EPON network element management test platform consists of equipment simulation test module, alarm test module, topology and configuration test module, and performance test module. Equipment simulation module which is based on actual equipment can add EPON network equipments such as OLT or OUN to the platform; Alarm test module can simulate different types of warnings of real network; topology and configuration test module can provide the necessary information of the network topology and configuration; performance test module can provide the network operating parameters, providing the basis for the evaluation of network equipment and network performance.Based on EPON network structure, this thesis analyzed the framework of EPON network and SNMP structure, and described SNMP management model, and EPON equipment MIB in detail. According to the EPON network management structure and functions, we designed the framework of network management test platform, functional modules, implemented the alarm test module of the platform, and finally completed the testing of the platform, and achieved the desired results.
