The video image processing technology had been made the best use of in all fields such as military, industry, civil and so on, but there are three important fields in some projects about the national defence study and the video surveillance: how to keep the high-speed in compact hardware structure, how to solve the problems of missing frames and being lack of space for storage and how to update the feature of expansibility and portability of the system.This subject designed a portable high-speed image data acquisition and storage system. USB2.0 (Universal Serial Bus) standard whose transfer rate can reach 480Mbps with a simple and convenient connect, the toggle buffer process of SRAM and the simplified of the circuit can keep the feature of high-speed. The 160GB IDE(Integrated Devices Electronics) hard disk of portable PC was used to record the mass data, the main frame is based on FPGA and USB and the off-line module with single process can avoid missing the frames. The system supplies two channel for infrared and TV image signal, two functions of real-time and processed display , two record modes of off-line and on-line and a independent supply source module. What's more, it can expand the functions of image processing, video compressing and so on via some special interface.The functions of the system, some key technologies, the general design and the design of hardware and software of the system were presented in detail.The core part of the system was realized and applied in lots of subjects and study projects. With the continuous updating in the design and function, the portable high-speed image data acquisition and storage system will be in more and more applications in the future.
