ClearCase Based Software Configuration Management And Its Extension

With the development of software technology, the requirements of software projects become more complicated and change more frequently. Some problems in development period have been broken out, such as chaos of multi-edition and storage of data resources.The software configuration management (SCM) focuses on the process of developing software, including control management, process management, and audit management, statistics management. The SCM is the important circle of the software engineering. This thesis introduced Software Configuration Management basic concepts, main methods and the key task.As the project is researching and deploying a enterprise SCM software system which based on the ERP project .Through integration with the original project system with ClearCase, this system can do the identification, change control, statistic and audit for all the Research and Development project software of the enterprise. The system has devised multilevel development process to fit the actual laboratory environment. And this thesis discusses how to control the SCM working flow in actual activity in the Software Life Cycle.The project adopts the software engineering method, Based the fully research of the backup, authority distribution and so on, Which the ClearCase could not afford properly. For better safety, the system can automates and customize the backup strategy, furthermore it also could distribute authority with proper way. After a period of probation, the system operates well. In the end of This thesis, it summarizes the SCM experience and studies the future of the SCM.
