Widely acknowledged for its dedicated functionality and high efficiency, embedded system has developed dramatically for the past few years. And driver design is a crucial part of embedded operating system development, for its features and performance have direct impact on those of the whole system. Application programs communicate with hardware through drivers. Hardware differences are hidden behind device drivers, which provide uniformed interfaces for upper layer and decreases the development complexity.MoCA protocol has realized high speed network access and transmission through coaxial cable, which enables users to enjoy the high speed network service without relaying wires. With reference to the research project "Research on HiNOC(High performance Network Over Coax) Access Technology", which our laboratory is working on, this paper designs and develops the driver of broadband access device using of coaxial cable as access medium. It begins with discussion of MoCA protocol, followed by the introduction of design proposal and realization method of the HiNOC access device. Then it presents the driver transplantation project from Linux operating system to VxWorks. Finally, the design and realization of HiNOC access driver software are presented in the environment of embedded real time Operation System VxWorks' multitask.
