Study And Analysis On The Technology Of Color Management In Digital Proofing

Digital proofing is developed with the technology of CTP. After CTP is introduced, digital proofing will replace traditional proofing because of the requirement of digital plate making. From scanner to display to printer and final press, color managing and controlling is always an important issue. Color management can provide constant and high quality color reproducing mechanism for all kinds of devices and platform. Color management system based on ICC standard has already been well known for people of printing fields.This research first introduced the basic knowledge of digital proofing. The work flow of CMS in digital proofing and knowledge relating to color. Then the principle of color separation is carefully introduced, among which the most important is black plate separating. Printer calibrating and color calibrating based on experiment are also introduced. ICC Profile is studied and a new method of evaluating profile is introduced. Including the prediction of color difference of Printer ICC profile and the unsmoothness metric for evaluating Printer CLUT.According to the disadvantage of present gamut mapping algorithms, this paper introduced two new spatial and color adaptive gamut mapping algorithms. One is Spatial and color adaptive compression(SCACOMP),the other is Spatial and color adaptive clipping (SCACLIP).At last introduced a new interactive visualization software 3D Color Printer Explorer, being used to evaluate the printer characteristics, such as color resolution and color graininess.Because there are more and more study on the technology of color management, and it is becoming well-rounded, so here emphasis is placed on the several methods of evaluating and analyzing in the process of digital proofing.
