| This paper analyzes the fact that in existing screen soft proofing process, the professional display devices required and the supporting software are both expensive, and the currently sophisticated business solutions are mostly products of foreign professional companies. The price threshold has made it unrealistic for small and medium-sized enterprises to adopt such solutions. This paper mainly tests the color performance of ordinary, non-professional equipment, and compares it with that of high-end display devices. The result shows that non-professional equipment is not much different in terms of color display capacity for the part required by soft proofing, but its display has relatively poor half tone rendering and its display accuracy of color is slightly weaker than that of professional displays. The paper designs to use software to modify the display images to enable the color display of ordinary displays to meet the basic production requirements, which is the core of the exploration in this paper. This paper expounds the meaning and background of screen soft proofing study, elaborates on the necessary knowledge of color science and chromaticity for screen soft proofing process, and describes the basic principle of ICC-based screen soft proofing process. Currently, ICC-based open color management has been commonly adopted. However, ICC-based open color management alone cannot meet the production requirements if ordinary LCDs are used for screen soft proofing, which can be proved by the experimental results in this paper. To solve such problem, the paper adopts the idea of closed-loop correction and designs modifying modular software to solve the inaccuracy problem encountered by ICC-based open color management system. After tests, it is determined that it can meet the production requirements to a certain extent and thus achieve the goal of lowering the cost of proofing equipment.Of course, through the evaluation, inconsistency of surface chromaticity of existing ordinary LCDs is the biggest problem, which is also the main factor that restricts low-end displays to be used as display devices for screen soft proofing. |
