How to realize high quality reproduction of color information is the target and important subject of study of color system, which make the color information have minimum loss when the color is transferring among the different devices. Since CRT monitor and color ink jet printer are important display and output devices of computer system, this subject regards open color management as guidelines, and realize the whole process of color management among CRT monitor display and color ink jet printer output on the basis of investigation and analysis of the appearing color characteristics and color space conversion of CRT monitor display and color ink jet printer output.This paper adopts a way of three-dimensional lookup table with tetrahedral interpolation by CIELab color space which is Device-Independent color space, to realize the CRT monitor color space transformation from RGB space to CIELab color space, and on the basis of the better conversion precision, the method of tetrahedral special point approaching the target point based on the color space transformation from RGB space to CIELab color space has been used to realize the reversal transformation. In this paper, RGB value has been regarded as input value of the color ink jet printer. This subject analyze the characteristic relationship between input and output color information of color ink jet printer, and research the process of color space conversion of color ink jet printer, and get the color ink jet printer color space conversion model eventually on the basis of CRT monitor color space conversion model. In the process of color space transformation from CRT monitor to color ink jet printer, color gamut mapping is necessary because of the difference of them color gamut. To the color in the superposition of the two color gamut, color gamut mapping is unnecessary, and to the color out of the color ink jet printer color gamut, the luminance and saturation loss of output color information have been compensated some by the analysis of color ink jet printer color gamut section. This subjectrecently realize the soft-proofing function of CRT monitor simulation of the color ink jet printer output result, and the function of what you see is what you get, which is the color ink jet printer output result approaching the monitor display. Besides that, considering the problem of image processing time, this subject bring a method of seed point image region mergence based on the color information of pixel, which can merge the region of similar color information to shorten the image processing time, and has been proved it has good practical value.In this paper, a software of the color management system of computer display and output devices is developed under the environment of Microsoft Visual C++6.0 based on the operating system of Microsoft Windows XP, and used the Microsoft Visual C++6.0 and OpenGL library functions to realize the color gamut visualization, which can analyze the device color gamut characteristic clearly. The research result of this subject has great importance to the further research on the color management system and the color management system developed in this subject has certain applied value in the research of color management system of computer display and output devices.
