At present the basic framework of Mobile IPv6 has been formed, but there are still many problems. On these issues, Mobile IPv6 research focuses on the performance of switching to solve the problems, that is, switching to reduce handover delay and the packet loss rate. This thesis on how to reduce the delay has conducted in-depth exploration and study. In the thesis, the Mobile IPv6 is introduced firstly, and compared with Mobile IPv4 about concepts and principles. The several prevalent switching solutions, such as Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 technology, Fast Handover for Mobile IPv6 technology, Fast Handover for Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 technology and Flow-based Fast Handover for MIPv6 technology to expand standard mobile IPv6 are studied in depth. On the basis of comparison, a solution, Flow-based Fast Handover for Hierarchical MIPv6 is raised through its link layer trigger mechanism to reduce the handover delay in detecting delay of the movement and distributing address. By the analysis to state of flow information or the establishment of the optimization tunnel and mobile anchor point's position, it makes to determine on when MN receives and sends data packet. Furtherer, the program which integrates analysis of business-state, hierarchical structure and the fast handover is more effective on reducing latency and packet loss rate, especially at the macro mobile circumstances. Finally, on the basis of theoretical analysis, a simulation platform of IPv6 network environment to test the three programs on FHMIPv6, FFHMIPv6, F-FHMIPv6 is built up by NS-2 simulation tool. The result, which is gotten from the comparative analysis of three options in the data end-to-end packet delay, efficiency of MN receiving data packet and congestion window changing, demonstrates the feasibility of the program.
