The gas pipeline distributes underground in the whole city nearly, and leakage happened is able to bring about gigantic economic losses and person hurt, so discover leakage and ascertain the location in time becomes the first problem after leakage happened. The detecting to city gas pipeline leakage belongs to pressure pipeline leakage detecting and with pipeline construction the leakage detecting technology has also got ceaseless development. At present liquid leakage detection and location method have been already suggested variously, but to gas pipeline at home and abroad are studied lesser. The study and application of leakage detecting and locating system can discover the leakage and locate leak location in time and reduces economic losses and casualties, and improve the pipeline transporting automation level at the same time.Develop with the signal processing technology, computer technology and tiny controller technology at full speed, it has boosted the pipeline leakage detection based on the soft hardware combines software method. Study and analyze the various pipeline leaks detecting method at home and abroad, base on the project background of the city pipelines detection and location system, and bring forward overall plan based on negative pressure wave. Study and analyze the sensor and signal acquisition system of the gas pipeline detecting system, brings forward the acquisition transmission scheme based on control core with MCU. In signal processing system, adopt virtual instrument technology of NI Corporation to design upper software system to display waveform of negative pressure wave, filter waveform with digital method, relation operation, waveform store, and waveform redisplay.Through simulate an experiment of gas pipeline leakage, lower hardware acquisition system can detect negative pressure wave effectively when leakage happens, and transmit the digital signal. Upper software system in the computer can display real-time waveform, carry out the two channel signals correlation arithmetic, so it can detect and locate leakage. Results indicate that applying negative pressure wave theory to detect and locate pipeline of gas leakage have advantage such as construction simple and convenient, high sensitiveness and fast reaction.
