With the rapidly growing Internet, streaming multimedia technology becomes to be the dominant effect to the internet media transmit over the world. Seen as promiseful, it is being the studying hotspot and innovating the whole Internet makeup.MPEG-4 promises compact-disk quality at extremely low data rates; and the multimedia connect could even adjust it to suit the transmission rate and quality. It has been the mainly media standard for transmitting multimedia in current and next generation network. It's meaningful that we study MPEG-4 multimedia transmission. This design uses the microprocessor called OMAP5910, which is made by Ti Company. The proper character that OMAP5910 has two core processors is fully used.The MPEG-4 Streaming multimedia transmitting system is in Linux OS. The two-core processor of OMAP5910 is ARM and DSP. This design uses ARM to control, transmit data in Internet, initiate the system and distribute the resource of the system. The DSP only decodes. The design like this can make the work very efficiently and reduce the cost.The design transmits data not orderly, but reverses the order. The data is repackaged. Server transmits the index data to the client at first. By doing this, when the users are playing the Streaming multimedia, they can change the playing position of the media freely.After testing in LAN, the system can play without halting and allows users to change the playing position freely. It is a real Video-on-Demand system.
