Study And Implementation Of Marine Information Metadata Standard Based On XML

With the rapid development of marine science, The status of marine information increasing. How to ensure the sharing of information has also become the focus of the current study. Marine Information has many disciplines, and complex types, in particular the various research institutions does not have a unified standard for data exchange and storage, which has brought difficulties to the sustainable development of marine science. To solve this problem, we focused on the characteristics and status of marine information, using XML to express metadata of marine information; we construct the Marine Information Metadata Standard for data exchange and storage.In this paper, it analyzes the basic theory of metadata based on the existing fields of the metadata standard. It is necessary to establish a unified metadata standard. Metadata is data about the content, quality, condition and other characteristics of data. Its basic function is to describe data. It helps users to understand the level and quality of data sources, to judge the credibility and the scope of application. It provides the convenient way for the user query and data retrieve.This paper analyzes the unique characteristics of marine information, and the current international marine metadata standard. In light of China's marine information, It presents the method to develop marine metadata standard based on XML. After analyzing the request and the related standard, the marine information is classified and encoded. It is merely mentioned on the methodology of the establishing metadata solution. According to the specialty of marine information, the paper designs a feasible metadata solution based on the international principles. By using the existing standards, it integrates the various standards "bricks" in these standards and builds our own metadata standard based on the analysis of standards research.Based on the above-mentioned study, The paper defines the metadata types of elements, attributes and naming rules and divides the marine information metadata into file status information metadata standard, the database metadata standard status information and computer services metadata standard It also gives the XML Schema definition and discusses how to expand and apply our standardsFinally, in order to ensure the correct implementation of the marine metadata information standards and comply with other applications with the greatest degrees of interoperability, we have developed a testing software for the marine metadata standard, designed conformance testing model and testing content.
