The video information is one kind of great data quantity information, so it is very difficult to directly transmit, therefore the video information must be compressed. Through compareing some compression standards, MPEG-4 standard is widely used for its new character of object-oriented. At present there are three designs of MPEG-4 video compression system, MPEG-4 video compression system based on DSP is favored for its characters of easy to update, low price and so on. Through compareing DSP chips of many companies, this paper chooses Blackfin DSP as the core processor of the MPEG-4 video compression system.In this paper, based on theoretical analysis, hardware design, software design process started on the three aspects of the MPEG-4 video compression system information throughout the design process.Information from the images, compression coding basic tenets of the MPEG-4 compression standard principle, MPEG-4 compression algorithm core of the completion of the gradual deepening of the MPEG-4 compression process analysis. In theory on the basis of existing MPEG-4 coding scheme based on the completion of the encoder Blackfin DSP design, hardware circuit from video acquisition modules, external storage module, core processing modules, with Blackfin DSP hardware structure Choose the right modules completed the final chip MPEG-4 video compression Information Processing System hardware platforms.Software Design is the core of this paper, the core algorithm and the computational complexity of the coding system has greatly restricted the coding speed, the core of the algorithm is the key to improve, the paper of the original algorithm improvements made faster and more efficient algorithms. Another paper also use chips from the hardware features of the structure of pipeline structure, the memory structure and processor architecture areas of the encoder to optimize the ultimate completion of the real-time video compression information processing system design.The results from this experiment can be seen through the optimization of MPEG-4 compressed video information system is optimized compression speed six times more than before, and ultimately to achieve a compression ratio of 60 times to meet the real-time video image processing needs. This paper proposes that the Blackfin DSP based on the MPEG-4 compressed video information processing system is very feasible have great prospects for development.
