Radar control terminal and display is one of the important parts for a radar system. Radar controller can control radar accurately through the terminal and display targets effectively. All objects are constantly producing infrared radiation. With infrared technology in the military on a wider application,it's particularly important to display real-time infrared image information on the portable terminal radar. This paper focuses on researching and designing of the portable battlefield reconnaissance radar terminal which based on ARM.It takes advanced embedded system technique to design the smart terminal that can control radar and also display targets and infrared image information. It's important for improving the performance of the portable battlefield reconnaissance radar. The design of the portable radar terminal mainly includes the hardware platform constructing, the software platform constructing and the system software development. The hardware platform adopts S3CEB2410 which based on ARM920T. The dual-port RAM and CPLD composed of hardware circuits for infrared image data frame buffer. The software platform constructing is based on the mode of host and target. The design of the radar terminal software includes: completing the design of the GUI interface program; completing the diaplay program design of the radar target information; Linux operating system driver development, such as DMA, framebuffer, serial and so on; the program design of serial communication which based on the Qt/ Embedded; infrared image display based on framebuffer. The terminal software design based on system of embedded Linux, using the C++ language and the related software tool Qt etc. to carry on the software development.
