As the national economy development, urban congestion and obstruction phenomenon has become increasingly serious. City traffic problem has seriously hindered the improvement of the urban residents'living standards and the continuable economic development of the entire city. It becomes the bottleneck of urban development. Urban public transport has many advantages, such as throughput, high efficiency transport, relatively less pollution. It is the key to solve urban traffic problems that empoldering and constructing modern public transport management system to improve public transport management and the quality of the service, and guiding the choice of public transport travel, thereby improving traffic conditions throughout the city.In view of the present situation of the domestic and foreign public transportation system, an automatic reporting station system for bus based on GPS technology is put in this paper. And there are details of the hardware design and software development process. And testing solutions are developed here to test the system. Finally, there are the analysis of the current work and suggestions for improvement.The core is a powerful ARM9 S3C2410X chip in the system which includes power, reset circuit, clock circuit, a GPS module, Flash / RAM memory, touch screen interface circuit, audio circuit component modules and so on. The embedded Linux operating system and the GPS technology are used in this system, and the latitude and longitude information of the stop is used to trigger the condition. It is capable of providing announcement of bus stops, service information, and providing increment services such as the advertisement with Mplayer. With human-computer interface on the touch screen, QT/Embedded is used as GUI to achieve the Bus Inquiry System. The audio and touch screen driver is modified according to the practical situation of the system. The software can be promoted through the serial port. The display provides real-time next stop information and advertisement concurrently. The memorizer can store multiple routes information at the same time to facilitate the replacement of temporary bus line. The system can easily and accurately tell the passenger vehicle operation information, offer a variety of tips or warning service that allows passengers to travel safety and reduce the burden of the driver. The system has a good application prospect.
