Signal sources with high accuracy and operational frequency are used in the fields of research and application of modern electronics measuring technology. With the development of FPGA in a large scale and the maturing of SOPC, design technology have provided theoretical basis and technological support for the design and realization of such signal generators.In this paper, a source of digital, with based on the need of a digital electronic lab. in one polytechnic college. In the research FPGA of Cyclone serials from ALTERA Company is used as the digital platform, DDS device which generates Sine Signals are designed in FPGA by the use of VHDL, and then package IP nuclear which is controlled by SOPC technology based on Nios II Embedded Processor. The programming in Nios can realize and choose different modulation methods. The whole system can output the sine waves with frequencies ranging from 1Hz to 40MHz, with he minimum step frequency of 1Hz. It is perfected to generate kinds of signals, including AM, FM, 2PSK and 2ASK.This thesis detailed introduces the realization of the system in software and hardware of this system, and focuses on the analysis on the designing process and operational principles DDS and on its output signal property; it also makes a systematical research on the formation of IP nuclear, and the design and realization of NIOS soft processor.
