As modern radar technology is extensively applied in the military and civilian areas, more and more repair and maintenance are required. Due to the restriction of maintaining and experimental condition, the simulation technology of radar target, instead of the real goal, is used to provide echo signal so as to achieve the maintenance, testing and performance of the evaluation of radar systems. Functioning as a radar echo simulation unit, radar signal generator plays an important role in the repair and maintenance of the radar system. Besides, with the application of versatile design and easy operation, it's undoubtedly for radar signal generator to cut the cycle and cost, and improve the efficiency of radar in maintenance.This dissertation introduces radar signal generator based on DDWS, as well as its working principle and implementation method. The device, working as a radar signal source and echo simulation unit, has the following characters: multi-signal, multi-clock, multi-modulation laws and multi-channel. Thus it can easily offer the feature of parameter adjustment, such as the multi-wave selection, the Doppler frequency shift, the pulse delay and pulse amplitude, etc, effectively simulate the radar echo signal and verify the performance of pulse compression unit and signal processing unit, and accurately assess tactical indicators of the radar system like resolution and power range, etc.The primary work in this dissertation:1. A comprehensive analysis of the principle of the direct digital synthesis (DDS), and a comparative analysis of two technical approaches between the direct digital waveform synthesis and direct digital frequency synthesis.2. An analysis of two kinds of methods based DDWS techniques to synthesize IF signal: Digital waveform synthesis based on the IF sampling and base-band digital waveform synthesizer + digital quadrature modulation to generate radar signal via.3. A completion of system design, hardware design, part of the logic development of radar signal generator based on direct digital waveform synthesis (DDWS) and high-speed D/A. 4. A completion of the C program development of the control panel based on MCU principle, waveform parameter editing, dynamic display of parameters, parameter transmission, and system reset.5. A participation in the partly process of the system debugging of hardware and software, the testing and analysis of the output waveform.
