This paper presents a kind of video transmission system based on hierarchical Ad hoc wireless network. This system is designed in accordance with the characteristic of video transmission, video conference and video data management. It also uses the techniques of stream media and wireless network especially the Ad hoc network.The system can be used in project construction field, fire fighting field and so on.In project construction field, as the establishment of the laws which relate to it, project construction supervision project plays an increasingly important role in the area of ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects. Establishing the video transmission system in the building site, which is used to realize information-based supervision, solve the problems that appeared in the building site and collect the multimedia information, can improve the quality of supervision and enrich the supervision methods; Moreover, in the area of fire fighting, setting up the video transmission system in the sence of fire can make the fire fighting and fire analysis more efficient and scientific ,especially in the large area sence of fire.The system includes three sub-systems: real-time video supervision system, video analysis system and video web service system. The paper mainly designs and realizes the real-time video supervision system. The functions of this part include video capture, video compress, real-time transmission, video storage, video conference and so on. The whole system includes three kinds of node: the capture node, the transfer node, the monitor node. The system uses RTP data and controls message to realize the nodes'cooperation. The network structure of this part mainly uses the hierarchical Ad hoc network which can improve the conveniency and the management of the system.In the realization process of the system, we use multithread technique, buffer technique and video storage technique to optimize the performance and improve the capability of the system.The design and implementation of the system allow collecting more multimedia information of the sence, especially in the project construction supervision and fire fighting field. It can also help to give right commands in the sence. Therefore, the imformatic level and management level of these domains can be improved.
