The Design Of MPEG-4 ES Analyzing Software

Video compressing and video CODEC are becoming more and more important in the modern life with the rapid development of DVB, DVD and the Internet Media-Stream technology. People can also get clearer and rapider Multi-Media service with less cost with the rapid development of video compressing technology. In the past 20 years, a universal, high-quality digital video compressing standard is the target of every technician. MPEG-4(ISO/IEC 14496-2) and H.264 (ISO/IEC 14496-10) are two latest video compressing standards facing the future needs. Currently, MPEG-4 ASP standard is broadly used in the MP4 player, Internet Media-Stream and so on. An analyzing-software is needed to analyze technicians' MPEG-4 ES (Element Stream) to provide a better service. So, it is significant to develop the MPEG-4 ES analyzing software.The MPEG-4 ES analyzing software introduced in this paper is based on the Windows OS, and is developed by Visual C++. It can extract the information in the stream, display the stream and test whether the ES can fit to the MPEG-4 standard. The software can display the current frame's information in the window dynamically, and can achieve step forward, step backward display mode. In this paper, the author introduces the standard and the program of MPEG-4's CODEC process. The method and the characteristic are also introduced in the paper.
