As one of the core chips of DTV and DPTV, Video format conversion chip has a large commercial market. Video signal processing is the main function of this chip, including de-interlacing, frame rate up-conversion and scaling. It also has the function of man-machine interaction control.As an important part of the circuit system, MMI(Man-machine interface) is a communicating interface between the system and users. With quick development of the system platform technology, and wide use of man-machine interaction controlling technology, it is now widely concerned by both users and equipment providers. It has the characteristic of directly operating, user controlling, interface customizing and interface unifying. In the video format conversion chip, it provides a man-machine interface (OSD menu) to make users adjust video signal based on their requisition on the effect of video image.In this thesis, we introduce the function of the man-machine interaction controlling in the video format conversion chip and discuss the importance of it. In the mean time, we uses top-down design method, and follows the popular way of IC designing which include dividing system into function modules, designing RTL coding of each modules, software function simulating, logic synthesizing and FPGA hardware function validating, and finally designs a man-machine interface (OSD) IP core with self intellectual property rights in a creative way. This IP core has the characteristic of simple structure, high reliability, with entire function, good transplanting, and it can either be used in the video format conversion chip system, or any other designs.
