The Research And Implementation Of Program Search & Switch Functions On ATSC Digital Television Integrated Set

With the rapidly development and maturation of the digital television technologies, countries all over the world have been coming to set down a series of developing plans and policies to push the transformation from analog television to digital television in order to get energetical progress in the digital television industry and take the world market quickly. The digital set-top box has played an important role in the digitalization of the television. However, it will be replaced by digital television integrated set after all. It is quite necessary for the television industry of our country to develop such a kind of digital television integrated receiving system which also can receive analog TV programs.The project background of this paper: to develop a television receiving system supporting ATSC,DVB-C and analog television based on a Broadcom SOC chip(BCM3560) which integrates both digital and analog television's receiving & processing functions in it.This paper is mainly on the design and accomplishment of the digital program search & switch module in a TV receiving system. The detail work includes: to establish the database of program information, including the definition of data structures and data operation interfaces; to extract program information out of transport stream, and to store these information into database; to design program search flow and switch flow, and finally to complete the module function, i.e., realizing program search and switch.This module supports both ATSC Terristrial and Cable digital television, for each there is a database of program information. But both apply to the same flow of program search or switch in this module.This paper's work is compliant with ISO/IEC 13818-1 and ATSC standards. The definition of data structures and the abstraction of program information are based on ISO/IEC 13818-1 PSI information and ATSC PSIP information, mainly referring to PAT, PMT and VCT.The module has passed functional tests, and is able to run stably in the system platform.
