DTV(digital TV) refers to the actual TV signal being transmitted digitally .DTV enables broadcasters to offer television with movie-quality picture and sound. It also offers greater multicasting and interactive capabilities, so it is fast replacing analog TV.On the basis of HDTV architecture of ATSC standard,much research have been done on the components of the DTV,including back-end framework of hardware and software. A high definition TV set is built with the TVP9000 of TEXAS Instrument and FLI8125 of GENESIS Microchip and a good example is given to show how to design a software framework for DTV.After deeply analyzing the basic principle used in DTV and ATV, a method is designed to communicate the DTV system with the ATV system,which is based on the I2C (inter integrated circuit ) bus ,and a mode is defined to share information between them.Much attention is paid to the design and implementation of the DTV system,firstly the process of parsing PSIP information of ATSC is discussed, then deep insight is put into the principle of parental control and a module of software for parental control is designed ,at last, the stack for CC(closed caption) is discussed and a software module for display it is designed.Testing result indicates that the high definition receiver have a good performance on all services defined in DTV, besides, the software running in the system is robust and the GUI is friendly to the user .In a word, it has accomplished the expected task very good.
