A Study Of Fujian Private University Library In The Period Of Republic Of China

In the period of Republic of China,in order to fill the blank of Fujian higher education,the Private University was set up gradually.Library,as an important condition of a university,also began to develop.Although the University was subsidized by private person,with many difficulties,its library achieved proper development,obtained amazing achievement and laid the foundation for the modernization of Fujian library enterprise. The thesis takes the four Fujian Private University Libraries(FPUL)as the research object.The four Private Universities,including Private Fujian College,Hwa Nan College, Fukien Christian University and Private Amoy University,that existed for a long time in Fujian during the period of Republic of China.Time frame of the research is from the beginning of 20^thcentury to the beginning of 1950s.The thesis mainly gives a detailed analyzing and exposition on the libraries' generation,influence,developing stage,features of library collection,literature classification and cataloguing technique,organization system,regulations,characters,funds etc.Also,in the thesis,the two University Libraries (Fukien Christian University Library and Private Amoy University Library)with prominent achievement are chosen as model for deep analyzing.Through combining many kinds of science knowledge,using different ways of analyzing,the thesis gives deep exposition from the above aspects.Through above analyzing,the thesis presents the overall situation of FPUL objectively,reveals the unique point of FPUL and reflects the special role they play in the Fujian library enterprise.
