With the development of economic and social, urban traffic situation is becoming more and more serious. Public transport route inquiring System is part of the urban public information platform, and goal of it provides people with necessary journey information. Urban public transport route inquiring system not only is propitious to people' journey, but also mitigates traffic pressure and reduces environmental pollution.In recent years, as the development of computer programming technology and Internet technology, many Cities at home and abroad have developed urban public transport route inquiring system Based on Internet, Which easily provides necessary transport information to people. But, because of restrictions of technique and the developer, the systems have more and less problems.Based on introducing the concept, the compose,the realization strategy,the realization technology and the development tendency , and the characters of public traffic data,the paper develops urban public transport route inquiring system based on Browse/Server structure. The development of system makes use of the WebGIS technique, using ArcIMS as the map application server, Oracle Spatial as the database for organization and management of spatial data,JSP and Java Applet embedded in the explorer as the client interface and Java technique ,which reduces difficulty in developing the system and benefits for use' operation.During the development of the urban public transport route inquiring System, I have researched the following jobs:1. Based on analysis the forms and the characters of public traffic position data and public routing data, I have classified and combinated the traffic dada, a to satisfy the real algorithm;2. I have developed n transfer algorithm of public traffic-importing adjacent bus site and Buscache to improve the efficiency and practicality of the system;3. using JSP,Java Applet,Java Servlet as technique to realize urban public transport route inquiring system to calculation in sever and client,which reduces the network burden and improves the enquired efficiency;4. Using Oracle Spatial as the database, I have realized integration of spatial data and attribute data storage;5. I have realized not only the text displaying of enquired result, but also the displaying of public traffic information on the electronic map, which makes the system more intuitionistic and convenient.
