Design And Implementation Of Configuration Management Module In WCDMA OMC-S

In recent years, with 3G (3rd. Generation) coming, competition of mobile telecommunication market becomes more and more furious. How to maintain 3G network economically and effectively is a magic weapon of getting victory. 3G network management will play a momentous role. So research and Development high quality network manamgent system become a very important task.The system functionality of Network Management System includes topology management, configuration management, fault management, performance management, system management, operation and maintanence management and self management. CM (Configuration Management) module manages all NEs (Network Elements) of core network, that is to say, CM module displays all kinds of NEs' information by graphs, tables and characters, it should provide fuctions of adding, deleting, querying, modifying data, and also synchronizing, downloading data and rationality data checking.WCDMA OMC-S (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access Operation & Maintanence Center - Service) network model of UTStarcom is a 3G core network management system, which takes responsibility of managing all core network devices. It is based framework by SNMPv2 (Simple Network Management Protocol Version 2) and also follows the criterion of TMN (Telecommunication Management Network), moreover the software is based on C/S (Client/Server) architecher and applies many design pattens, it is an open system.In this paper, the general situation of 3G network management developing has been briefly introduced firstly; following is the inroduction of TMN specification and SNMPv2 protocol; then it analyses the architecture of WCDMA OMC-S system and gives a detail analysis of configuration function and work flow; and it deeply expatiates the general design, detail design and implemetation of CM core module. In further research, some new technology such as JMX framework has been considered.
