The hydrological monitoring technology is the important basis of hydrological informationization, it provides the safeguard for hydraulic engineering's safe operation, and takes an important role in reducing disaster and dispatching the water resources. In order to satisfy the demand of hydrological monitoring automation and cyberization, this article has unified the characteristic and superiority of ZigBee technology and GPRS technology, proposed a new kind of design proposal, designed and realized a wireless hydrological monitoring system based on ZigBee and GPRS technology.According to the wireless sensor network's elementary theory and the actual demand of hydrological monitoring system, this article has given the overall design plan of the system, detailedly analyzed and designed the hardware and software of the system. The node of the system included network coordinator and terminal sensor node. The network coordinator has adopted ARM7 high performance microprocessor LPC2210, transplanted the embedded operating system ofμC/OS-II and the agreement stack SMAC of ZigBee, which formed the software development platform. Based on this software development platform, the system has mainly analyzed the multitasking application under the embedded operating system, given the key flow chart and partial soruce code. In the end, this system has given a applied example of ZigBee in hydrological monitoring system, selected inductive digital water-level sensor to compose terminal sensor node, analyzed the sofeware design of terminal sensor node, given the experimental anlysis of this applied example.The system has constituted measuring network with each terminal of hydrological monitor, realized the wireless network of ZigBee, network coordinated nodes of ZigBee communicated with monitoring center by GPRS, which constituted a wireless hydrological monitoring system based on ZigBee and GPRS technology. This system has realized the supplement of ZigBee and GPRS, realized the integration of short-distance hydrological data collection and long-distance transmission of the data, which greatly saved the cost of the system. According to the experimental verification, this system has satisfied the distance demand of hydrological monitor, had high reliability, which can facilitate the realization of hydrological monitoring network. It is a very nice solution to realize the network monitor by unifying the GPRS and ZigBee technology, which has the very vital significance to the development of the hydrological monitor.
