Research On The Evaluation Of Airforce Operation Weapon Support Effectiveness Based On METL

Modern war is characterized by combats in the form of the system of systems. If advanced Weapons & Weapon can't form scientific and appropriate Weapon Support Meta-system, it would not be difficult to satisfy the demands of modern war. The support effectiveness of Weapon Support Meta-system is the efficiency measure of Weapon Support Meta-system accomplishing certain support mission. The support effectiveness of Weapon Support Meta-system is the result of a combination of tactics factors and technique factors, and is also a measure of how much the Support Meta-system achieves its supportability for Weapon Meta-system during battles. Thus, support effectiveness evaluation of Weapon Support Meta-system is a key reference to developing program of Weapon Support for Weapon department. A research on evaluation methods of support effectiveness of Weapon Support Meta-system is both necessary in theory and valuable in practice for verifying the Weapon support.Support effectiveness evaluation of Weapon Support Meta-system is closely related to the theory of disciplines of complicated system science and strategies. However, many problems exist in the research of Weapon Support Meta-system: How to model the process of Weapon support? How to build index system to measure support effectiveness of Weapon Support Meta-system? And how to build corresponding models for the aggregation of support index system?Centering on the problems mentioned above, this paper makes a study on evaluation methods of system support effectiveness back grounded with a campaign level air force operation. Firstly, this paper discusses the basic concepts of support effectiveness in Weapon Support Meta-system. Aiming at Mission Essential Task (METL) of air force operation, support effectiveness index system is built and calculating method is provided. Then, in order to get necessary data, the support process model is established and a simulation algorithm is proposed. Finally, an application research based on the practical needs of air operation is made.
