In BeiDou-2 navigation system, the monitor stations monitor satellite orbits, navigation signals and integrity. As the primary devices in monitor stations, monitor receivers are dedicated to track navigation signal and collect satellite-ranging data. Thus, the information processing unit in monitor receiver needs to have high performance and high reliability.Taking BD-2 navigation system as the background, this paper presents a general design of high-performance information processing unit based on VxWorks real time operation system.The major work is as following:The first part introduces the hardware realization of the navigation processing platform. In view of the high speed real-time data processing request, processing platform use PCI local bus to transfer data between the information processing unit and the signal processing unit. PCI local bus with 32-bit data path supports maximum 132MB/s data transmission speed at 33MHz.The PCI bus design of the platform is presented in this part.The second part elaborates the software framework of the information processing platform and the transplant process of VxWorks. The Board Support Package for the platform hardware environment needs to be designed.The third part has developed PCI device driver on VxWorks system. Driver development on Embedded System is a challenging task. Not only does it require software developers to have the programming skills, but also need to know the characteristics of hardware equipment and be familiar with the entire system architecture. The device driver usually starts with the system, which is inconvenient for debug. PCI device driver designed in this chapter may be loaded after system boot.The fourth part describes the realization of the network communication module. Network is the most important interface of the platform. Redundancy backup communication of network under VxWorks is successfully solved, which enhanced the reliability of data exchange. Redundancy backup and automatic switching technology improves platform hardware fault tolerance. For established TCP/IP links, switching network adapter will not cause disconnects.The research results have been applied to the monitor receiver design in Beidou-2 navigation system. The monitor receivers have been delivered to stations around the country, operating in good condition.
