Studies On Navigation System Network Based On VxWorks

This paper takes a certain navigation display and control console developed by our institute as the background. After acquired by integrated navigation system, the navigation information, such as direction priority, status, condition of sea, etc, should be transferred timely and reliably to users such as fighting system or navigating system. Our experiments are tested on the certain navigation display and control console. The results show that some problems such as package losing, network congestion, etc occur frequently. According to this problem, this paper presents research and design of integrated navigation system with networking technique. And also studies on the network driver technique of embedded system are presented in detail.This paper also introduces real-time operating system-VxWorks and related application development tool-Tornado, including principle of VxWorks, system architecture of Tornado and developing mode, etc. After studies on network drive and TCP/IP protocol stack provided by VxWorks, we find that though VxWorks provides complete function of network drive and TCP/IP protocol stack, its complication and inefficiency could not be applied in our project. So developing network device driver is needed and also discussed in detail. Network device driver-Intel 82559 is programmed based on VxWorks. The paper gives many times test and validation, and also introduces the method and circumstance of the test. The result indicate the design accords with the request of network in navigation display and control console.Our design was experimented on network communication between warship communication system, navigation system and fighting system. The test results show that the problems, such as package losing, network congestion, etc was solved effectively and the reliability of data transmission through network was enhanced.
