Image Information Processing Technology is one of the current research focuses. Image Processing Technology is widely applied in Industrial Inspection, Medical Imaging, Telecommunication, the Military Industrialization, Character Recognition and other fields. As a result of it, varieties of image processing and transmission method become endless.Complex and changeable image processing algorithms verification needs a powerful image processing hardware platform to support itself urgently. FPGA structure is an ideal choice for establishing the hardware platform.The purpose of the thesis is to build a FPGA-based image processing system hardware platform. Its main role is to provide hardware support for the verification of various kinds of image processing algorithms.The summary of the thesis is introduced at first. Then the thesis describes the hardware technology framework in detail, introduces the FPGA design process, FPGA/CPLD features, Stratix device structure, HDL, development tool Quartus II and the general principles of FPGA development.The design of external interface board is the focuse. The thesis analyzes the standards and characteristics of LVDS and serial port, then shows the author's design ideals and does the relevant FPGA programming of LVDS and serial port and simulation, designs LVDS transceiver through different input methods, carrys out the comparison of these input methods, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods, discusses two configurations and identifies a viable configuration. designs serial port and its multiplexing program. The whole design is done in the development environment Quartus II 5.0 of Altera Company, putting up the logic synthesis and simulation. The thesis investigates the core processing module of the system after the design of the external interface board, expounding the principles and the functions of the modules.The thesis makes the forward-looking attempt to the hardware platform of digital image processing system based on FPGA and DSP, having positive significance to complete the hardware platform.
