This paper describes the design and implementation of a high speed multi-serial port based on Field Programmable Gate Array. Firstly, the article has discussed the design of DSP+FPGA system framework, the interactive interface of DSP and FPGA is discussed in detail, and then give a comprehensive study over the design and implementation of high speed multi-serial port and expansion module based on FPGA, especially given the serial port transceiver description of two different buffering mechanisms, which is FIFO and dual-port RAM. At last, this paper presents other modules of the system, including the A/D,D/A and the switch input/output.In this design, the required functions have been integrated into FPGA, making the whole design more compact, stable and reliable. And FPGA also provides a rich command and status register, making DSP configure and check the working state of serial port easily and flexibly, to improve the system's flexibility, convenience, stability. This design can be seen as a reference to other embedded system design which is based on the DSP and FPGA.
