Railway container transportation, with the characters of little cargo loss, and convenient multi-modal transportation, has become an important modern transportation style. However, management in the container yard is behindhand and not efficient in China. RFID, which is wireless identification, quick scanning and strongly anti-jamming, can make the container information visualization, and improve the efficiency and service of the management if employed in the container yard. However, RFID readings are unreliable, especially in metallic environment such as container yard. They can't meet the requirement of high accuracy in the container yard management. The data cleaning technique is to resolve this problem. It can eliminate false and duplicate readings, and supply useful information to the upper applications. The first part of this paper expresses the background and status of RFID data cleaning techniques for the railway container yard management system. Based on analyzing the characters of RFID reading, this paper introduces some typical methods and models to clean the RFID readings. It proposes the architecture of railway container yard management system based on RFID, and the EPC encoding of the container. For the differences between the management and application mode, it researches on the data cleaning techniques for both in-yard management and in-out-yard management respectively. The 3 layers model which is named InYardCleaning is for the in-yard management, where includes more duplicate readings and all kinds of false readings .There are two models for the in-out-yard management: completeness model for the false negative readings, and I&OYardCleaning model for the duplicate readings and other false readings. Simulation tests have been taken to prove the validity of the models. At last, this paper summarizes and figures out the development in the future.
