Software testing plays a significant role to ensure the reliability and quality of software in software developing and maintaining process. With the continuous higher requirement from the development of software industry, software testing has been participating into every phase of software life cycle, become more and more important in software development and maintenance.As a branch of software testing, automation testing has been increasingly used in various phases of software testing, saving the software testing costs, improving the efficiency of testing and shortening the software development cycle.The paper expatiates on the basic theory of automation testing technology, analyzes the value of automation testing, researches on the existing automation testing technology,testing framework and automated testing tools. Through analyzing the disadvantages and the challenges of existing automated testing technology,the advantages and disadvantages of different testing frameworks and testing tools, the paper proposes an automation testing framework model based on keyword-driven testing technology which is the most mature technology in the current software testing area. Based on this model, the paper realizes the automation testing framework which is developed on the automation testing tools Rational Functional Tester.The framework is mainly used to do functional automation testing on SUT (software under test). It can realize the automated test scripts generation and implementation, the automated test data verification, the automated test report generation. It reduces the count of human-computer interaction, allow the non-programmers to be participating in the automated testing process. Also, it is easy to use, maintain and expand. Using the framework, Tester can greatly improve the efficiency of the automated testing, guarantee the quality of the software.
