With the development of data service on the telecom packet network,providing users with a multimedia which integrates voice, video and data hasbecome the goal of the communication network. To follow this trend, thebusiness provided by the next generation core service (NCSP) based on NGN(Next Generation Network) is no longer a simple voice communication or textmessage. It becomes the multimedia form including text, audio and video.Softswitch is at the core of NGN, which provides voice, video, data andother multimedia services, using open and standard architecture to provide richservices. It is a milestone in the history of telecommunications, a newgeneration of telecommunications networks marks the arrival of the era. Fromthe developing point of view, NGN is switching from the traditional circuitswitchedPSTN network to packet-switched network, It carries businesses ofthe original PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) network, and unloadsa large amount of data transmission to IP (Internet Protocol) network in orderto reduce the heavy loads of PSTN network, also increases and enhances anumber of new and old business by the features of the new IP technology.In the long run, the business provided by NGN network develops in thedirection of multimedia and information. Business is no longer in simple voicecommunication mode or SMS text mode, but in text, audio, video andintegrated multimedia forms. Multimedia services on the communicationsystem have put forward higher requirements, such as the support ofintegration and interactivity.Media Server is an independent media equipment that provides dedicatedresources function in Softswitch system, and is the key equipment of Packetnetwork, providing basic and enhanced business in the media processing functions, including audio, video, data processing and different codingconversion, and other resources functions, as well as communication functionand maintenance function.As an important equipment in NGN, media server plays an important rolein next-generation networks and network-building operation. The nextgeneration network is a distributed network, which is based on the packetswitchednetwork, with open agreement and open structure of the network, thisis the premise. Therefore, the next generation network components should bemainly in the form of distributed server business. Next generation networkbusiness, on the one hand should be on the enhancement of existingtelecommunications services, and more based on the favorable conditionswhich is provided by the NGN new network structure in order to provide more,better quality of new value-added services.In order to facilitate the system administrator on the system operation andmaintenance, system providers need to offer a comprehensive managementsystem, namely the OAM (Operation Administration and Maintenance) system.The definition of OAM functions by ITU-T: 1) Monitoring performance andgenerating information of maintenance, in accordance with the information toassess the stability of the network; 2) Detecting network fault with regularmeans, providing a variety of information on alarm and maintenance; 3)Through scheduling or switch to other entities, entities bypass failure to ensurethe normal operation of the network; 4) Transmitting fault information to themanagement entity.As a component of the NCSP project, OAM system provides operation,runtime management, maintenance functions, warning functions, statisticalfunctions, as well as data reporting capabilities to the application server andsubsystems RCS / RPS of the media server. It adopts a friendly interactiveinterface which allows administrators to configure the system. This paper is on the design and implementation of media server system ofthe OAM with NGN as the premise and the media server as the core. Theadministrators can configure the system through friendly interactive interface.It provides operation, management and maintenance functions to the mediaserver. It is divided into basic functions, operation and maintenance functions,fault alarm, statistics functions, as well as statements of the five functionalareas. The paper starts with the demand of the system and then talks about thesystem's modular design, protocol interface, as well as the realization of thecore functions in detail.The phase of requirement analysis uses the merits and methods in thesimilar system of Huawei, ZTE and other communications companies forreference, and provides a detailed design for a specific media server. The paperdescribes in particular details the three way calling: Set/Get/Update and givesthe graphics for each mode. In addition, it describes the two custom InterfacesIRMP and UMP in detail. IRMP is the protocol between OAM and media.UMP is the protocol between OAM and user, the constitution of the protocolis similar to Act ASN.1 abstract grammar (ASN.1 is similar to the descriptionof the data of senior programming language. It provides a number ofcomponents for the definition of language type and value. Type correspondsstructure, value corresponds content. But the difference between otherprogramming languages and ASN.1 is that the type of ASN.1 is not realized bythe machine). The structure of Information is similar to the struct, and thetransmission is by the way of open source middleware, that is General MessageMechanism .In the realization of functional modules, it describes structure ofthe various functional modules and the class diagram, including the basicfunctional modules, operation and maintenance modules, fault alarm module,the statistics module, and even the interactive among these modules. The basicfunctional module provides query and modify functions about the software information and the information on handling capacity of media server.Operation and maintenance module provides functions of authentication,modify, configure and change the system's running capabilities onconfiguration and operation of subsystem RPS /RCS. Alarm function moduleprovides the relevant information interface to subsystem RCS /RPS, in order toreport error message to the RMS system when the subsystem RCS /RPS is introuble, if necessary RMS module will report the alarm information to theNetwork Management System. Statistics module provides data to the networkmanagement server.In achieving, the system uses C++ language, with Unix environments, Idevelop the OAM system for the media server .For the client, the system isequipped with java client in windows operating system and inaccess system inUnix operating system, both of them can show a good graphical interfacefunction. This system has been applicated in China Mobile and China MobileInstitute. It is currently in the testing phase, and I believe that in the near futureOAM media server system will become more robust.
