HSDPA,the beyond 3rd mobile communication technology , was prese -nted by 3GPP R5 to meet the people's requirement of data service with high rate。The destination of HSDPA was to improve the downlink rate of data ser -vice largely (maximum rate of 14.4Mbps theoretically)without change the current WCDMA network configuration。However,the conflict of radio resources between HSDPA and R99 servi -ce comes out following HSDPA being merged into WCDMA network. This problem has strong impact on the quality,coverage and capacity of HSDPA network. How to assign the power and codes resources properly and provide satisfying HSDPA service , keeping the good quality of R99 as before , is a gre -at challenge at the beginning of HSDPA network building . This thesis has ple -ntyful research on this topic.Firstly, WCDMA and HSDPA technology are both introduced . Then , the corrected model of radio signal propagation,simulation analysis,test system,network key performance indicators are presented。The HSDPA field trial netw -ork which was built by some operator in Caohejing district of Shanghai brought a perfect circumstance for this research .Based on this network , with the use of theoretical computation,simulation analysis and field test,this thesis has much research on the problem mentioned above , and draws important conclusions that fit the coming commercial network .Afterwards, based on these conclusions , this thesis simulate the coverage effect of the whole HSDPA network , as well as the quality and capacity of R99 service after addition of HSDPA。The results prove that HSDPA has little impact on R99 service following the radio resources assign -ment way based on that conclusions above .Giving a key guidance for the coming HSDPA commercial network building, the valuable conclusions of this thesis assure HSDPA network not only provides lots of services , but also has perfect reliability。With the development of HSDPA, not only the service capacity and peak data rate will keep increasing , but also the hierarchy and configuration of network is to become more complicated ,which prompt deeper research of HSDPA coverage in the future.
