Design And Realization Of An Internet-based University Student Management Systems

In the 21st century, human history has stepped into an age of knowledge and information. With the rapid development of the computer science and technology and its wide application in production and many other fields in daily life, remarkable changes have taken place: our life pace sped up, the concept of time and space reconsidered, and the work efficiency enhanced .The development of computer application software has served well in helping people finish daily tasks at work. However, now the students' education and management of higher learning is facing a new problem, i.e., how to improve and strengthen the management of students through successfully employing modern and advanced technology such as computer, network, and computer application software to adapt to the new changes in the current situation. This is undoubtedly a new research topic that we are facing and also the only way leading to the modernized management level. On one hand, the wide use of computer, network and application software can change the traditional student management pattern in higher learning. It can standardize, systemize and rationalize tasks such as students' behavior management, dormitory management, archive management, scholarship management, loan management, psychological consultation and future career guidance. On the other hand, the wide use of computer, network and application software can reduce the cost of student's management, lighten working intensity, and improve working efficiency.This paper mainly discusses the development and study of student management software system in University of Science and Technology Liaoning (USTL). This paper presents a detailed description of the whole process from demand analysis, system analysis, outline design, details design to system test and adjustment. All these processes have been carried out by strictly following the principles of software project. A theoretical elaboration is also provided. With software project methods, the writer has conducted student management demand analysis, function module division, and database pattern analysis, and has designed database structure and application program. The specific design interface of the system is presented in this paper to enable readers to understand the whole idea of the system design. The student management system of USTL stated in this paper is application software developed aiming at achieving a comprehensive, accurate and effective management of students' status and other students' information. It is the practice that has transformed the simple human operation in dealing with tasks into an operation carried out by the computer and human working together. Transformation processes are specified in detail in this paper. The main function of this system is to rapidly adapt to the modern students management level and achieve resource-sharing of students management among relevant departments. It can serve as a reference in the similar computer management information system. The development of this application software has adopted MS Visual Basic 6.0. and c/s structure based on database server, SQL server. It has also employed the well-developed software developing technology. This paper has also summarized the experience that can be drawn in this software developing process and pointed out the direction for future improvement of this system.
